Volume of water requirement as per Indian Standards And Tank Size Calculations

Image
As per IS Code – For 1 person daily 135 Litres of water is required per day Details of IS consideration  Drinking = 5 liters Cooking = 5 liters Washing cloth=30 liters Cleaning house=10 liters Bathing and Toilet=85 liters Water tank size and capacity calculation For a family of 4 persons. Total water requirement 135 x 4= 650 liters per day 1m^3 = 1000 litres  1 Liter = 1/1000 m^3 1 Litre = 0.001m^3 Our requirement is 650 Liters 650 x 0.001 m^3 Volume = 0.65m^3 Assume our water tank depth is 0.6 meters Area Calculation 0.65/0.6 = 1.083 m^2 So Length x Breadth = 1.083 m^2 Assuming Length=2 Breadth  2B x B = 1.083 B^2=1.083/2 B^2=0.54 B= √(0.54) B= 0.734m Hence L = 2B             L = 2 x 0.734              L = 1.47 meter For a 650 liter water tank Length = 1.47 Meter Breadth = 0.734 Meter Depth = 0.6 Meter

Pile Cap Design Example as Per Indian Code

Image
Here is a Pile cap design example is solved according to Indian code with step wise procedure. Problem Design pilecap foundation with the given data:  Load Fy = 800 KN, fc = 25 MPa, fy = 415 MPa, Column Dimension = 250 mm x 250 mm. Pedestal ht= 500 mm Pile Data- Dia of pile= 400 mm. Vertical capacity = 250 KN, Horizontal capacity = 100 KN Uplift capacity = 80 KN Solution depth of pilecap= 1.5xpiledia,  D = 600 mm Take D=650 mm c/c pile diatance = 3xpile dia =1200 mm.  Edge diatance = 350 mm Assuming 4 pile combination Pilecap dimension is 1900 mm x1900 mm x 650 mm Weight of footing = 1.9 x1.9 x 0.65 x 25 KN = 58.66 KN Weight of pedestal = 0.25 x 0.25 x 0.5 x 25 KN = 0.78 KN Therefore, total load on the pilecap = (800+58.66 +0.78) KN = 859.44 KN So Pile reaction = 859.44 /4= 214.86 < 250KN Hence OK As there is no lateral load , moment or uplift force, so each pile is sa

Capacity of Water Tanks

Calculation of capacity of circular water tank in liters. Based on the formula: Volume of Cylinder =   π R 2  · H  Sample calculation. 1) Assume Radius of Circular portion of tank  R=0.50 meters(Diameter=1m) 2) Assume height of tank in meters                 H=1m    3) Cubic Volume of circular portion                     =  π R 2  · H                                                                         =3.14* 0.50 2  *1                                                                            =0.785m 3 4) Capacity In liters                                                           We know as per standard                       1 m 3  = 1000lites       Multiplying 0.785 by 1000 we get 785litres Calculated Values for the capacity of circular tank with different diameters respectively are given below in table Diameter in Meters Capacity in liters per meter depth 1.00 785 1.
