White and Yellow Marking on Road


Roads are most used transport system worldwide. While travelling through highways or road we see white and yellow markings on roads. few of them are broken and few are Solid continuous. these all markings having some specific objective and meaning as per traffic rules. these are as


1) Solid White Line 



Solid White Line

  • It Means do not change the lane. stay in the your lane.
  • Generally it is used for one way traffic.  






2) Broken White Line 

  • It means you can change your lane if it is safe.

3) Solid Yellow Line

  • Mostly used for Two way traffic.  
  • It means that stay in the lane.
  • You may overtake the other vehicles but without crossing the yellow line. No passing is allowed.

4) Broken Yellow Line 

  • It means you can change the lane on two way traffic roads when it is safe.

5) Doubled Yellow Line

  • No any passing and overtake is allowed.

5) One Solid and One Broken Yellow Line 


  • If you are driving through broken yellow line then you can allowed to overtake other vehicle.
  • But if you are driving through either side line then you are not allowed to overtake.
